Troops

This poem was written as a tribute to all the men and women who give their lives to serve our country. 

They give up their will
And sacrifice their lives
Pack up their things
And say their goodbyes.

They stand tall
And proud and brave
To give us all freedom
Without knowing our names.

They believe in our country
The united and strong
Believe in our values
Even when they are gone.

Set across the world
To serve in our forces
Showing us the real heroes
Putting themselves through the courses.

Going confident with strength
With their hearts full of pride
They confront as a unit
As we stand by.

Even when they are gone
Yes, some never come back
They are thanked long and hard
For the qualities we lack.

They are never forgotten
Fields of poppies are seen
For the people who were lost
Wearing the red and white sheen.

For our troops who are still fighting
We think it must be tough
To go fight for our country
Times must be rough.

So I speak for us all
In our great notion of lights
Thank you for your courage
To fight for equality and rights.
