1957

This poem is one I wrote for my Oma & Opa's 50th Anniversary. At their party, my sister read it out loud after we got it framed and printed on nice paper. It now hangs in my Oma & Opa's dining room. I don't write poems for any other purpose than getting things out. This is the poem I'm most proud of.

Wedding bells rang
A young couple was wed
The church chorus sang

A seed of romance
Is what started it all
Evolving to blossom
To grow proud and tall

On that blissful day
Two people made a vow
Together they'd stay

They started building a family
Add some more faces to the mix
And this lovely young couple
Soon turned into six

They raised the family
On pure virtue and strength
Keeping a close watch
Keeping them all at arms length

These children started growing
Having families of their own
Never forgetting what their parents taught
Even though they were grown

Soon this couple
that started with two
Had ten grandchildren
And watched as they grew

And now here we stand
50 years from the start
They're still going strong
With lots of love in their heart.
